Boston seafood stew, a.k.a New England seafood chowder, is a delicious and hearty dish. Here’s a simple recipe you can try this season.

What you need

● 1 lb. firm white fish fillets cut into chunks (we recommend cod or haddock)
● 1 lb. mixed seafood, cleaned and preferably debearded
● 4 cups of fish or seafood stock
● 4 slices of bacon, chopped
● 1 onion, chopped
● 2 garlic cloves, minced
● 2 celery stalks, chopped
● 2 carrots, peeled and diced
● 2 cups of potatoes, peeled and diced
● 1 cup heavy cream
● 1 bay leaf
● 1 tsp of dried thyme
● Salt and pepper
● Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

How to Prepare

● Debeard and rinse the seafood in cold water and set aside.

● In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until it becomes crispy. Line a plate with a paper towel and place the bacon on it. Leave the bacon grease in the pot. Use a slotted spoon for this step.

● Include the chopped onion, garlic, celery, and carrots in the saucepan and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until soft.

● Stir in the diced potatoes, fish or seafood stock, bay leaf, and dried thyme. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook until the potatoes are tender about 15-20 minutes.

● Incorporate the pieces of fish and seafood into the saucepan after the potatoes are soft. Allow it to gently boil until the seafood, about 5-7 minutes.
