Seasoned and Steamed to Perfection
Cantlers Riverside Inn is a fabulous place to enjoy Maryland Crab…or whatever local seafood you might like.
I first went there about 20 years ago – as a guest of a local. I just HAD to go back – I couldn’t remember the name of the place so headed in the general direction, finally I knew I was near so pulled over and asked someone “the place on the water with great crab” – they gave us the directions and off we went. It was fabulous again…and many many times since. My husband is from Maryland and is a crab-snob. He LOVES this place.
You can eat inside or out on the deck under the cover or in the elements. You get your brown paper covering “placemat” and when your order is up – you get a load of crab, a hammer and old bay. Must have old bay. I keep it in my kitchen now too. It is delicious. The crabs are fabulous. The shrimp are divine and everything we’ve had here tastes fresh and wonderful.
This is a crab shack to be sure. It is casual and the food gets messy. There is frequently a crowd but it doesn’t impact the service. The food is always good and the beer is always cold. Sitting on the river, you are eating great seafood looking at the water most of it came from, seeing gorgeous boats go by is delightful.
If for some reason there are those in your party who don’t like seafood (like one of my children) – you can get cheese pizza, chicken sandwiches, nuggets and fries or other standard fare. Cheese pizza is a favorite with our kids.
