Discover Maryland’s Best

If you are in Baltimore and have a craving for crabs, all you need to do is drive down ten miles to 1732 Old Eastern Avenue, Essex, MD, to the haven of the best crabs in town! Schultz’s Crab House welcomes you to savor the taste of their crab delicacies, which have recently been awarded in the 2017 James Beard Awards.

Schultz’s Crab House is noted not only for its crabs, but its seafood menu overall. Also, the appearance of the restaurant gives it a touch of the 50s and 60s, which contributes to the unique ambience of the place.

Since the finest crabs in Maryland are caught in the summer and fall seasons, it is the time when most seafood lovers flock down to Schultz’s to fulfill their appetite for well-cooked, piping hot crabs. The most popular dishes in the menu include the Crab Imperial, Jumbo Lump, Backfin Crabcakes, and also the infamous Crab Fluff.

Founded by William and Mildred Schultz in 1950, the Crab house served as a café, until Bob and Karen McKinney bought the café in 1969 and reshaped its identity that is the Schultz’s Crab House today. It is currently co-owned and operated by the McKinney children, Chrissy Burkman, and Stephanie Kell.

The history of the restaurant shapes its identity and popularity in all of Maryland. This is the reason why the Crab house was chosen to be awarded in the “America’s Classics” by the James Beard Foundation for having a timeless appeal, and quality food which reflects the character of its community.

The people of Maryland take pride in their Number one crab house. They welcome anyone visiting or passing through Baltimore to stop and have quality seafood; one that they will remember forever!
