Crabtastic Bo Brooks
Crab Cakes or Steamed Blue Crabs In East Baltimore
If you are in Baltimore and have a sudden craving for crab, Bo Brooks is the place to be. Back in the 60’s a guy nicknamed Bo, along with some partners, opened a crab house in Gardenville, East Baltimore. The place was then sold to its current owners in 1985. The famed crab taste was brought down to the waterfront in 2000.
The place serves crab cake sandwich topped with pickles, lettuce, and tomato. It is served as a double entrée, or alongside French fries. Sides are mentioned as a la carte on the menu. The menu doesn’t indicate whether the sides comes with the entrée or not.

You can try out Bo’s Jumbo Crab Cake, which is true to its name. You get sizeable chunks of crab that are bound together with egg, crumbs, and spices. The sandwich comes in potato bread bun with its inside toasted, and all the ingredients are bound together with as little binder as possible. In other words, the sandwich will not fall apart and make a mess on your plate as you enjoy it!
The binder flavor is also neutral and it doesn’t get in the way of the sweet, amazing taste of the crab meat. The spices boost the taste but they make themselves known as you near the end of your sandwich. And while the bun has its own distinct taste, it still does less to distract you from the crab taste. And the taste is great whether you eat the crab cake as a sandwich or entrée. So you can go both ways.
Not to mention, you can also head out to Bo Brooks Crab House for some amazing steamed crabs.
