One of the most popular types of seafood is shellfish. The best ones are without a doubt, clams and oysters. However, are these two too similar or too different from one anotMy planher?

Similarities

Perhaps, the biggest similarity is both “oyster” and “clam” are just terms for groups of similar but unique species. When you eat them, you’ll notice they both taste sour. Both of them are good for your health as they’re both low in fat and calories. In addition, they’re perfect for athletes because they’re high protein. Perhaps, the vitamin they’re not known to bringing is vitamin B-12.

Differences

Even if they’re similar in taste, they’re also different in that category since oysters taste buttery while clams taste salty. The two are also different in some vitamins they contain as clams contain iron, selenium, vitamin C and manganese while oysters contain calcium, potassium and zinc. Another difference is the way they’re eaten. Oysters can be fried, grilled, baked or even offered as a chaser alongside a hard drink like vodka or tequila. On the other hand, clams is usually part of a large dish alongside other ingredients. One good example is the Spanish paella which is Spanish rice containing lots of seafood. Other than clams, it also contains shrimp and squid.

In conclusion, both clams and oysters are popular for a reason. They’re healthy and they also taste great. When you see them on the menu of your favorite restaurant, you must not think twice about ordering them. In fact, they’re so popular that even kids like them. Hence, they’re dishes fit for the entire family. As for which one is better, it really depends on the person. Some like their shellfish buttery while some like it salty. If you’re the type to latter, go for oysters and if you’re the former, it would be better to go for clams.
