Cook on Pink Salt

Himalayan Pink Salt

Another Way to Add Flavor

Add a Pink Salt Block to your Seafood Grilling for Superb added Smoky, Salty Flavor

Adding a pink salt block to your set of grilling tools is a decision you’ll be happy with over and over again with every delicious seafood bite.

Salt blocks are made from the mineral halite, best known as “rock salt.” Most “pink” salt comes from one of the largest halite mines in the word, the Khewra Salt Mine in the foothills of the Himalayans.

It’s Pink! The salt is pink due to iron content within, which means that every time you use a salt block to grill or cook on, you are adding naturally occurring iron to your diet can fill awesome!

While salt blocks are most commonly used when grilling, you can also use the salt block in the oven or on the stove top in a skillet. They are very versatile. Halite can withstand high temperatures as long as it is allowed to heat slowly. You can reuse the same salt block over and over again. They can last for years. Simply rinse it off well after use, pat it dry and save it in a non-humid environment in your home.

Salt blocks work well with serving food too. I like to serve sushi and sashimi directly on salt blocks. With the warm pink coloring, not only does the salt block add subtle great flavor to the sushi and sashimi, the food is wonderfully presented. There are several sizes to choose from. You can serve on one large salt block, or give everyone their own small salt block.

In summary, with pink salt blocks, everyone gets a little more iron in their diet and great tasting food with a beautiful presentation worthy of fine dining. They are fun to use, and the good news is that they are very affordable. My only important tip is that you ensure you purchase blocks that are at least 1” thick. Anything less thick has the potential to break easily.
