Islands of Paradise and Wonder
What to Do and Where to Eat
The Turks and Caicos islands are home to some of the best beaches in the Caribbean and they offer a wide variety of natural beauty. The islands are located north of Hispaniola and the Bahamas, and they have two full services airports that offer flights the year around located on Providenciales and Grand Turk. Most tourists land at Providencials and then take flights to other islands.
The islands have coral-rich waters and the Caribbean climate make the enclave of Turks and Caicos the perfect location for yachting. You can also go Whale Watching on Salt Cay, especially if you are travelling between January and April. But this season is also the busiest, though islands are relatively less crowded on Turks and Caicos. Hurricane season is June through November.
For relaxation, you can head out to Grace Bay, whereas if you are the adventurous type, you can go kiteboard flying on Long Lay Beach. If you love seafood, don’t miss the fresh and salty delights ata T & C Fish Fry on Providenciales. This is a chance also to mingle with other tourists and enjoy live music and samba. Another fine eatery is Coco Bistro, where you will especially enjoy their lobster salad.
History buffs can tour the old Chesire Hall as well as the Turks and Caicos National Museum to learn about the history of these islands. As far as accommodations are concerned, hotels are pricey on the island, as is everything else. Oceanfront rooms can cost easily cost you $300 to $400. However, we can safely say that you get what you pay for.
The key to keeping things in budget is smart planning. Safe to say, each dollar spent on Turks and Caicos is worth it!
