The Best Seafood Restaurants in New Orleans? Just Ask a Native! Below is the first of three.

Acme Oyster House – 724 Iberville Street: Any restaurant that’s been around for over 100 years has proven itself! The Acme Café was opened on Royal Street in the French Quarter in 1910, and has been pleasing discriminating diners ever since. After a disastrous fire in 1924, the Café moved around the corner, to its present location.

After some struggling during the last half of its first 70 years, the Acme was reestablished in 1985 by New Orleans native, Mike Rodriguez, who recognized the potential of the historical landmark and revived the charming New Orleans’ institution. Today, the Acme Café has served over 3 million local, fresh-shucked oysters, and oysters are just one of the many local, fresh ingredients that make the Acme Café so popular with locals and tourists alike.
