Elusive Yet Scrumptious Swordfish

If you are in the hunt to catch yourself a broadbill, another name for swordfish, you may find it to be a challenging task. These massive fish are elusive and tricky to collect three characters catch. With some perseverance though, you too can fight one of those. Fishes to your boat.

The trick is to know the habits of squid. Why? Because that is the main food source for the swordfish. They follow the squid, typically swimming around the bottom of the ocean during the warm days, and climbing up to the surface at night.

Another trick is getting your bait in the proper location, and setting drift. Bait needs to remain just above the bottom of the ocean when fishing during the day. Not an easy feat when you have to consider sea mounts, and other potential snags on your line. It is best to have a depth radar so you can keep an eye on your bait level.

If you are fishing at night, you want to raise the bait up higher, keeping it in water that is around 70 degrees. Swordfish are frequently on the move, and they do not swim close together month price setting drift, you have a better shot of catching one of these fighters.

First, to make the marinade, you will need to following ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/3 cup tequila
  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoons cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated lime rind
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated orange rind
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Mix all the ingredients together in a shallow bowl, using a whisk. Place your two swordfish steaks in a glass baking pan and pour the marinade over the two steaks. Flip them to ensure they are fully coated, wrap with foil and place in the fridge for one hour. Set your grill to a medium heat, and throw the swordfish on for 5-6 minutes on each side. Bon appetit!
