English Fish and Chips Recipe
Perhaps, one of the most popular finger foods is fish and chips. Have you ever been curious how to make it?
Here’s how:
Ingredients
- Vegetable Oil
- Malt Vinegar
- 4 Large Russet Potatoes
- 2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Can Soda Water
- 2 (8-ounce) cod or haddock fillets
- ½ cup rice flour
- 1 (12-ounce) can soda water
- 1 large egg
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
Steps:
- Heat 3 inches of the vegetable oil in a deep pot and another 3 inches in a deep fryer to 325 degrees.
- Cut the potatoes into finger size and put them in the oil. Fry the chips for 2 minutes then put them in a platter with a paper towel for it to drain.
- Adjust the temperature of the oil to 375 degrees F.
- Mix baking powder, salt, pepper, egg and flour in a large bowl. Slowly pour in the soda water in a smooth batter and spread the rice flour on a separate plate. Dip the fish pieces into the rice flour then dip them into the batter.
- Submerge the chips in the hot oil after putting them in the bottom of the fryer basket.
- Drop the battered fish into the chips after waving them into the bubbling oil.
- Fry for 5 minutes until the fish and chips are brown and crispy.
- Put salt on fish and chips after draining them on paper towels.
- Serve and enjoy while hot.
Finally, it’s best to serve this dish with a cup of mayonnaise. Believe it or not, it won’t take you 30 minutes to make the fish and chips. It certainly won’t take long before you can enjoy its crispy goodness.
