5 Fish that do not Taste like Fish for Finicky Eaters

You love fish, and you know that 2 to 3 servings per week are recommended as part of a healthy diet. However, someone in your family doesn’t like fish. Perhaps you are having a dinner party, but you are unsure if everyone likes fish. What should you serve? Here are different types of fish for finicky eaters. You can try these for success.

  1. Grilled Mahi Mahi Steak – This is perhaps your best bet. I have served fresh, grilled Mahi Mahi and observed people swearing they are eating a boneless pork chop. The color and texture are nearly identical. The consistency is very firm and cooks more like pork (see photo) or a beef steak.
  2. Grilled Swordfish Steak – Swordfish is another fish with very firm meat when cooked. A fresh, thick piece of swordfish cooks very much like meat other than fish. It does not flake apart.
  3. Grilled Tuna Steak – Another fish that holds up well on a grill (or in a pan, oven or broiler) and does not flake apart are tuna steaks. Many people who claim not to like fish do like tuna, especially if it is seasoned and blackened.
  4. Monkfish – Monkfish is very different from other fish. It has nearly the same texture and flavor as lobster. Many people don’t like haul-fish, but they love shellfish. So, try monk fish for happy smiles and full bellies.
  5. Cod – A freshly caught, thick filet of cod is especially good too. It is not as firm as the other fish listed, but it has more of a delicate, lite fishy taste. When served with lemon, it is particularly less fishy in flavor.

Good luck! You ought to have success with a few of these recommendations for those you don’t prefer to eat fish. I think your family member/s or dinner guests wil go through it will be pleasantly surprised.
