Grouper Fishing

Grouper
Riding out on the Double Eagle to go Grouper fishing is an experience. I’ve gone grouper fishing with friends on a private boat – and it isn’t nearly as fun. The thing is – you really need the good equipment to find out where the fish are and to be easily entertained when there are no fish nearby. Getting a mile or two off shore is a quicker experience on the giant Double Eagle as well.

boat

These boats are cool – they are double-hulled which looks like a giant catamaran with motors instead of sails. You can charter your own outing, bring a group for group rates on a regular run, or just join in the fun as individuals. Regardless of who you go with, you are bound to meet other aboard who will regale you with fishing tales (that only seems appropriate right?) and will give you loads of pointers. Mostly needed. As an added bonus, they serve food and alcohol, you can rent gear or bring your own, they have clean restrooms and the captains are usually pretty entertaining.

Marina

You will find the Double Eagles at the Clearwater Municipal Marina they dock behind Crabby Bills, the bait shop, etc. Once aboard – they will you out to sea – they try to make sure you see dolphin so will take you by popular dolphin play areas. They will find the best places to drop a line so you can catch dinner. And just in case you like catching but not cooking – they have relationships with several area restaurants that will clean and cook the fish you caught! How cool is that? You can go straight to Crabby Bills or a number of other choices. I imagine that list is growing all of the time because it is such a cool deal. You get the fun of going out to sea to catch a fish big enough to eat…then a professional cook prepares it for you.

Gotta love it! Plan your next vacation in Clearwater – and include a trip on one of the Double Eagles, you will not regret it!
