Beautiful Everything!

HAMMONASSET STATE PARK – the largest shoreline park offers
over 2 miles of beach to enjoy swimming, strolling along the boardwalk, or just relaxing in the sun and surf.

The sky and the beach seem to go on forever. HAMMONASSET is where my wife and I solidified our falling in love with each other. We would go after work when there was no parking charge. What a bigshot. Unfortunately, they now charge until the middle of the night. Not good.

I had a cheesy, wooden picnic basket that I filled with beer, wine and fresh lobster purchased right down the street. We had a wonderful time that we still talk about.

We both prefer going to the Meigs Point section. The beach is beautiful and a little bit smaller than the West Beach section. There is a giant bath house with picnic tables under cover to help people avoid the direct sunlight. You are so close to everything and yet, feel very distant. Which is really what you want. Relaxation.

Even though parking charges are much larger, this place is definitely worth every penny. I truly love going in the middle of winter. Extremely peaceful and quiet. We often go on New Year’s Day. Don’t roll your eyes until you have tried it.
