Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Sun, Sand, and More

Don’t Forget Everything Else!

beach

Driving south from Clearwater Beach you go across the Sand Key Bridge, pass Sand Key, Belleair Beach and head straight into Indian Rocks Beach. As you head down gulf blvd you will find ample opportunity to park in a public lot and walk out onto the beach. Parking is $5 a day in most of these lots and frequently people leaving will hand someone their ticket to literally pay-it-forward. Stick that receipt on your dash and you are good to go. While there are plenty of condos and hotels along the beach, there are few that are more than 8 stories and there are plenty of shops and restaurants as well.

 intercoastal

This is more of a strip of beaches – Indian Rocks, Indian Shores, Reddington Shores, Madeira Beach, etc. On one side is the gulf and on the other side is the Intercoastal waterway. Boaters love this area for its ease of access to water. Fishermen love it for the wide variety of fish you can catch – based on which water you are fishing! Beachgoers love it because you can have fun in the sane and sun all day long and walk to eat at all variety of places with equally varying food. The dining atmosphere goes from extremely casual (walk on in and eat while still in your bathing suit) to downright formal. Though far more of the casual places.

Foodies will love the various sauces, seasonings and such used by the local ‘hot spots’. You can eat Coquina salad, conch fritters, grouper sandwich – and all of it would be fresh caught…and if you ordered it at 4 different restaurants – you would have 4 different taste experiences!

Paradise Is Waiting

Sailing of speed-boating – you will find great places along these beaches to do both. Without the bright flashy tourism of Clearwater Beach – Indian Rocks and the rest of the beaches along this strip – offer a different kind of tourist experience.
