Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tale is an iconic seafood restaurant on the shoreline in Connecticut. With restaurants located in Westbrook, Madison and now New Haven. We go to the New Haven restaurant pretty often for lunch on the weekend and below is what we have found.
The lunchtime crowd is pretty busy on Saturdays. So, we get there early. The restaurant is very bright and extremely neat and clean. The staff is ready to bend over backwards to assist us in any way. They really want us to have a great experience. Part of the restaurant includes a souvenir shop.
Since the New Haven restaurant is pretty new, we have only been there four times. The first three times. I ordered the same thing. The lunchtime combination of fried claims, shrimp and onion rings. Each time everything was quite delicious and fresh. One criticism, the third time I ordered that plate, the onion ring quantity more than doubled and the fried clams and shrimp quantity shrunk by one third. Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe I am too judgmental.
My wife and I always get 6 raw Clams and Oysters. Always extremely fresh. Unlike the Summer Shack, the menu does not tell you where they are from. I am quite certain that from my experience here, they will tell you where they are from. If you ask.

Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tale has been around since 1979. You do not serve seafood to the masses for this long. If people do not like it. Maybe that’s a backwards way of giving a positive review, but it is very true.
Go to Lenny and Joe’s Fish Tale for a great meal inside or outside. Prosper on the water in New Haven at the location where other restaurants have not. Great food and great
prices coupled with a good location always brings in the crowds.
