Make Your Own Sushi

Make Your Own Sushi at Home with Easy Sushi Kits – It’s easy, fun and saves money.

Sushi is one of those foods that seems like it must be dreadfully difficult to prepare, especially the various rolls. At least, this is how I thought of it before I got my hands on a sushi making kit.

While I don’t want to take away from the art of sushi making, as various sushi chefs create master pieces, I can tell you that it is really easy to get yourself on your way to creating your own sushi master pieces. It may not come out looking perfect, but it is fun, and most of all, it saves you a lot of money when you make your own. Besides, you get better with time.

Okay. The trick to making great sushi is by making sure you use the right rice. The rice must be sticky in texture. The rice you must use is called “shari rice.” With the popularity of sushi kits for home, sometimes the rice is just simply called “sushi rice.” There are no other substitutions! You must use this kind of rice.

The second trick is for when you make sushi rolls. Remember seeing (or perhaps you already have) all those bamboo placemats out shopping at some time or another? Yes! Using a bamboo placemat is how you make those perfect rolls. It’s simple really. Just as the photo shows, you place all of the ingredients you want to use on the bamboo mat, and then you roll it all together. Once you have your roll, you slice it. It’s truly that simple. The only thing you’ll need to get right is how little or how much to use with the ingredients so that the roll is the size you want. With your first time out, you’ll acquire that knowledge after only a couple of rolls. It can be odd at first, meaning it looks easier than it is. Don’t be intimidated or become frustrated. My suggestion is that when you begin to roll, let the force be with you, and just do it!

The easiest way to start making your own sushi and sushi rolls is to pick up a sushi making kit. I have a couple, and I’ve looked at various ones available. They are all very good and come with everything you need to get started. Most sushi making kits come with instructions, recipes, the proper rice, dried seaweed sheets and the tools needed, all in one nice package. They are als mouse clicks o affordable and make great gifts.

One other thought I’d like to touch lightly on and leave you with is that when you make your own sushi at home, you know exactly what the ingredients are. Next time you are at the grocery store, pick up a package of the “freshly” prepared sushi rolls, flip it over and read the ingredients. You will be amazed at a how long the ingredient list is! You will also be (or should be) alarmed with what you read. You will feel much better about what you are feeding your body when you make your own.

As always, enjoy!
