On the Water, Under the Stars

Nellie Green was a character in the movie Titanic and Nellie Green was a prolific bootlegger back in the 1920s. But, right now, Nellie Green’s is a restaurant on the water in Branford, Connecticut. It is located on the Branford River. Boats are passing by constantly and many dock right out front. The area is very alive.

Nellie Green’s is a seafood restaurant that happens to offer much, much more. Pasta, Beef and Chicken are also available, as well as a Bar Menu. Unlike many other restaurants in the area, Nellie Green’s has an executive chef at the helm in the kitchen. When you eat their food, you can tell. I thought my mother was the only one that could make fried squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese. Wrong again.

Nellie Green’s also has an outdoor deck right on the water, which makes for a fun time during the summer months. I have always loved eating outside so, they had me at “Your table is ready.” Usually, the sign of a good restaurant is the number of different ways that it makes money

Nellie Green’s seems to always have a party that they are catering. That is a great sign of success. Nellie Green’s is about 1 mile from my house. My wife and I go all the time. Believe me, restaurants that are not accommodating, are overpriced or just serve bad food never get our business more than the first time. We have been to Nellie Green’s over and over because it has none of those qualities.
