The Best Outboard Motors

Fun on the Water

Outboard motors come in all kinds of specifications. Let’s look at the best ones below and above 50 HP.

Below 50 HP
Honda BF40 and BF50
The Honda BF40 and BF50 – an exceptional combination of the legendary 4-stroke engine by Honda. These are the most compact and lightest outboard motors on the market today. And as you would expect from any Honda motor, they’re packed with unrivaled features and technology.

Like BLAST, short for Boosted Low Speed Torque. Moving the throttle quickly activates BLAST, enabling much better hole shots. Programmed Electronic Fuel Injection is another great feature. It allows instant throttle response, easy starts, better fuel consumption and lower trolling speeds. And the Lean Burn Control feature makes your gas burn longer by making a leaner air/fuel mixture possible.

All of the above (and more) combine to make the BF40 and BF50 the best outboard motors under 50 HP.

Above 50 HP
Yamaha 150

You can always count on Yamaha’s dependable in-line 4 strokes to power your way over the water. The 4-cylinder design and electronic fuel injection makes the outboard motor lightweight and compact. Not to mention strong and agile. The cowling drainage has been refined with the addition of a tough 8-tooth “dog clutch”. All that’s another way of saying that you have enough power and speed for cruises, sport fishing and just about everything in between.

Suzuki DF300AP
Right from the time it was introduced, the DF300AP, the Suzuki’s flagship 300 HP V6, has been a symbol of advanced design and technology. An award winning outboard motor, the Suzuki DF300AP boasts “Suzuki Selective Rotation”, which is the world’s first outboard combining standard and counter-rotation operation. Also featured in this outboard motor is the Suzuki Precision Control, while the fly-by wire control system gives you seamless shifting and throttle response.
