Not only is the setting spectacular, the fishing wonderful…you can also find fabulous seafood at the seafood markets in the area.

Outer Banks

Outer Banks is known for its beauty and serene vistas…what you may not realize is the abundance of seafood available – I’m not talking about the many restaurants with delicious local fare…which are delightful to be sure. I am actually talking about going to a market, picking up some fresh seafood and cooking it yourself. Throughout the Outer Banks you see seafood markets: Billy’s Seafood in Kill Devil Hill, Risky Business in Hatteras and in Avon, Grayson and Emma’s in Courtland, O’neal’s in doesWanchese and many more. Each of these fine establishments offers seafood among other things. What they also offer is specifically – Outer Banks Catch. Meaning you can get truly fresh local seafood to take home and prepare yourself. So when you want to grill out and chill at home or in your vacation rental property: head out to one of the Markets and Grocers listed on Outer Banks Catch and ask for Outer Banks Catch – identified as local catch.

If you’ve not had truly fresh seafood before – you are missing out. Restaurants can call something fresh just to give it a better sound – but fresh – like caught that day – is a flavor so much delicious that you will wonder how you ever lived with store-bought packaged seafood. Crab is a local favorite – I have a friend who won’t eat crab from anywhere else!

Of course you can always head out to fish and catch your own meal – but it’s sure nice to know that on that rare occasion when you don’t catch enough for a meal, there is another option for almost as fresh seafood – even at the Harris Teeter!

Enjoy your next seafood meal at home – in the Outer Banks!
