Oyster season in South Carolina, runs from September to April and these months often include very popular harvests and festivals such as the South Carolina Oyster Festival. Oysters from South Carolina are known for being earthy, sweet and salty mainly due to their location and particular oyster beds. The festivals and other events are great opportunities to sample and taste different oysters.

If you are interested in growing and harvesting your own oysters, it is important to understand the timeline and other requirements in order to do so.
