The Preservation Society of Newport County runs nine homes that were once used as summer getaways of America’s rich and famous families. Nearly one million people visit these mansions annually. One of the most popular is The Breakers. This 70-room cottage was built by the Vanderbilt family in 1895. The historical home overlooks the Cliff Walk and is open year-round. Enjoy an audio tour in various languages as well as a special tour for families with younger children.

Roger Williams Park Zoo
Visit an exciting animal habitat The Boston Globe refers to as “the finest zoo in the New England area.” Over a half million visitors check out the Roger William Park Zoo each year to see more than 100 species of animals. Other attractions at the Roger Williams Park include the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, along with a Botanical Center with a breathtaking indoor garden display. It is sure to take a few hours to explore these fantastic 40 acres of park property.

Easton’s Beach
Rhode Island is renowned for its pristine beaches with magnificent waves. Take a trek to Easton’s Beach, also known as First Beach. The summer fun is easy with a variety of convenient rentals including umbrellas, chairs and boogie boards. The kids will love the carousel and playground. An educational experience is waiting at the Save the Bay Exploration Center. There is also a concession stand if you get hungry during your adventures.
