The Best WaveRunners

Run towards them!

Have you seen that spout of water that shoots up form the back of a jet ski? The next time you see that, it means you’re looking at a WaveRunner because this is unique to this personal water craft (PWC). Waverunner is basically a type of jet ski manufactured by the Yamaha Motor Company.

To avoid further confusion, know that the proper noun “Jet Ski” refers to a PWC trademarked by Kawasaki. Although all small leisure watercrafts are referred to as “jet skis” (common noun). Enough about names; let’s look at two of the best WaveRunners out there.

Yamaha SuperJet

A stand-up type PWC, he SuperJet is a part of Yamaha’s WaveRunner watercraft line. It made its debut back in 1990 and is now one of the most popular stand-up PWCs today. All units of the SuperJet line are built by hand in Japan, even the engine. Moreover, the design of the SuperJet is credited to Clayton Jaconson II, the inventor of the jet ski as we know it.

The latest SuperJet model has a 701cc 2-cylinder, 2-stroke engine. Sheet molded compound (SMC) is used for making the lower and upper hull across all SuperJet models. The SMC is made up of long strings of glass fibers that are suspended in polyester resin.

Yamaha WaveRunner FX Cruiser SHO

The Yamaha WaveRunner FX Cruiser SHO is a mouthful. But then again you don’t think of a jet ski being loaded with features, and the FX Cruiser SHO has all the bells and whistles. In addition to an amazing multifunction instrument panel, it boasts a cruise control option, lake water temperature, a compass and believe it or not – a cup holder as well! It can accommodate 3 people and has 2 storage spaces.

To help this WaveRunner speed across the water with all this equipment, Yamaha has put in a supercharged, 4-cylinder engine that packs an impressive 210 horsepower. The turning of the WaveRunner FX Cruiser SHO was very smooth and quite tight when you need it to be.
