Seafood from Sicily

When going to Sicily, one of the places to visit is the Las Pescheria Market. It’s a long line of stalls selling fresh seafood. Did you get hungry just by looking at all the food that’s for sale? That’s no problem because they also have tables and chairs set of up there. Also, the fresh finds here are so affordable that they’ll surely satisfy your seafood cravings. Here are some:

  1. Eel
Despite the way it looks, eel can be cut into little pieces then served as finger food. It may look greasy but it tastes wonderful.
  2. Sea Snails
Sea snails are known to move slowly so they’re an easy catch. They also taste great especially when sprinkled with lots of lemon.
  3. Octopus
Octopuses are best eaten when they’re mixed with fried rice. Here, there’s an option to eat them alone which is also good.
  4. Swordfish
Swordfish is best served when it’s grilled. When you try it, you’ll forget your name. Of course, it would be better if it’s paired up with lots of vegetables.
  5. Shrimp
Perhaps, the most popular seafood of them all is shrimp. It’s best eaten when it’s dipped onto soy sauce.

In conclusion, it’s best to visit this part of Sicily during lunchtime or dinnertime. For those who aren’t used to the smell of fresh seafood, you may want to get used to it. The smell is all over the place. However, if you cover your nose, people will look at you. If you don’t like it, it means you’re not a fan of fresh seafood. Also, the vendors here are often noisy. They shout their products and prices loudly so people will notice them. Of course, you can’t blame them since it’s what they do for a living. Good thing, that will allow you to bargain for the best deal.
