Snapper Blues – Fun For All

Snapper Blue Fishing
The first fish I ever caught was a snapper blue. A snapper blue is a baby or tiny bluefish. They are just as tenacious as their grown-up relatives, but, they are just too small to do any serious damage. If they bite you, it will hurt a little bit.

There is really no effort required to catch one. Just be in the right place. The bait fish are close to shore, which is where you
should be also. This is not a deep-sea fish. In the summertime in the Northeast, they are there. Why do you think a dock is so crowded with kids and senior citizens fishing?

They will respond to a shiny object or just a piece of bait being dangled in front of them. Typically, a minnow on a small hook
approximately 1 foot below a bobber or float (depending upon where you’re from.)

Just cast your line out. Make sure your tackle is ultralight, because these are not big fish, and you want to feel the fight. I never used bait when I was growing up. The lure of choice in my neighborhood was the Kastmaster. It was nothing more than a beveled piece of silver which would flash in the light, causing the fish to attack it. It was just that simple for a beginner.

Once you are a snapper blue master, you will want more. Big Blues, Striped Bass and so on.

Graduation Day Is Coming. Just have some fun right now.

Just the feeling of catching my very first fish when I was five years old, was absolutely incredible. I did eat that fish. It was
probably good. I just can’t remember. However, cooking fish, all kinds of fish is coming up in another post.
