As far as lures are concerned, the main benefit is that you can get your lures to perform actions and sounds that can attract game more effectively than live bait. Secondly, there is no fuss to maintain freshness. On the contrary, you can clean and reuse your lures, and this saves money in the long-run.
Most importantly, lures can be adapted to the type and size of fish you are after. However, some lures can be really expensive, and if they get stuck on rocks or weeds, you will lose a lot of money. Also consider that fish can sometimes detect the fakeness of the trap.
When fishing stripers, you have to find what works best for you between live bait and artificial lures. If you are going for bait, select something that is native to the area. And if you decide to use lures, you can use crank baits, jerk baits, and swim baits.
