They Look SO Good Together
Two High-class Foods On One Plate!
Do you know what’s extra-classy? Combining steak and lobster in a single meal. Surf and turf is not only popular, it’s also very tasty. And though all seafood joints don’t have it on their menus, here we list the five best restaurants in the Northeast serving surf and turf.
But before that, let’s talk about what exactly surf and turf is. Technically, it’s any main course where you pair seafood and meat. Though more often than not, the combination is lobster and steak (usually filet mignon).
But variations do exist. Sometimes its shrimp, sometimes scallops, and at other times, crab. This is usually done to lower the price. What we look in a restaurant that offers traditional surf and turf, and even when it offers a modern rendition of the classic dish, it never steps over the line of being immediately recognized for the classic combo of surf and turf.
You see nowadays, surf and turf isn’t respected as much. If we go back to the 1960s and 70s, surf and turf was offered everywhere, from local diners to fine-dining joints. However, many chefs are now including surf and turf on their menus and giving it a place among other main course seafood. Here are five restaurants that do so:
- Cove Surf and Turf (New Bedford, MA) Trip Advisor
- Jeff’s Surf & Turf (Huntington, NY) Trip Advisor
- George’s Surf & Turf (Mendon, MA) Trip Advisor
- Ocean Prime (Boston, MA) Trip Advisor
- Atlantic Grill (Rye, NH) Trip Advisor
It wasn’t easy to pick out the five best surf and turf joints in the northeast, but the selections we made, all serve perfectly-cooked steak and high-quality seafood. Your chef may even toss in a few shrimp atop your
steak. Enjoy!
