The Bungalow Bar

Rockaway Beach, NY

Devastated by Hurricane Sandy

The Bungalow Bar has been one of the best dining and drinking spots on Rockaway Beach, NYC for more than 30 years. A decade ago, though, the joint saw a change in management. Dan, the owner of the Bungalow Bar, was succeeded by his sons Dee, Terence, Sean, and Martin Tubridy, along with their friends.

There are many things behind Bungalow Bar’s raving success, especially it’s prime location. Even though the new management became infamous for infighting, the restaurant and bar continued to flourish…

…i.e. until Hurricane Sandy destroyed it completely in 2012. In the six months that followed, the Tubridy brothers saw their money drained in repairs, with no money coming in revenue as the place became inoperable.

Desperate, the brothers reached out for help, only to be featured on the reality TV show ‘Bar Rescue’. Jon Taffer, professional expert on restaurants and bar, who stars the show, came to the rescue.

The new design of the Bungalow Bar also became a source of infighting between the owners, but they eventually settled on a nautical theme with white and blue hues.
