The Maine Clambake Experience

Enjoy One NOW!

Founded in The Pine Tree State

Visiting Maine is incomplete without catching a taste of its famous clam bakes. You have the option to cook your own food or you can head out to one of the several popular seafood joints.

One of the best ways to enjoy traditional Maine clam bakes is to have a picnic along the shore, where you steam them in seaweed. The trick, however, is to have everything you need handy. This includes clams, lobsters, corn, potatoes, eggs and onions.

Note: Collect a barrel of seaweed when the tide is low.

You can also organize your clam bake picnic ‘on the rocks’. There is all the rocky coast you need in Maine, which makes it easier to balance your container (be it a stainless steel sink or a gas grill lid) evenly atop fire.

Here’s how you make your Maine clam bakes: Start by foiling the potatoes while placing eggs, clams, and onions in net bags. Place these items in the container, followed by lobsters. The clams go on top. Cover the container with more seaweed. You should also a use a wet canvas for covering. Cook the clams on fire for up to 50 minutes.

Enjoy!

But if this seems hard work (or you’re in Maine on short notice), you can always get clam bakes at places like the Francis Farm with drawn butter, fish, onion, sausage, potatoes, and brown bread. And if you’re not in mood for seafood, you can always try their scrumptious hot dogs, hamburgers, and BBQ chicken.

The ultimate clam bake experience is offered by Cabbage Island Clambakes, where you get to enjoy tasty seafood on a boat tour of Boothbay Harbor. You will get to visit Cabbage Island while delighting your taste buds with steamed white clams with blueberry cake!

This is an addendum from the owner of this ezine, Rich. I am a resident of Branford, Connecticut. Thimble Island LOBSTERBAKES is located nere. They will prepare and bring a clambake to you. Contact them to ask them questions.
