Try Celtic Sea Salt

Try Celtic Sea Salt instead of Your Regular Table Salt

Salt and sodium have gained a poor rap for a few decades now. While it is important to watch our sodium intake and keep in mind that moderation is key, we must remember that we are actually hard-wired to seek out salt. We need it. We have taste buds for sensing common salt, and there is only one substance on the planet that tastes salty. Yes, that’s salt (NaCl). Without it, the body cannot regulate the balance of water.

However, not all salts are created equal. There is a significant difference between common, refined table salt and Celtic sea salt. Common, refined table salt is stripped of its naturally occurring trace elements the body needs, and more than not, chemicals are added. For example, sodium aluminosilicate is added to table salt to prevent caking.

Furthermore, there is a difference between Celtic sea salt and other sea salts. Celtic sea salt is different from other sea salts in that it contains all 85 trace elements the body needs, simply due to its location (Brittany, France near the Celtic Sea). It is nutrient rich, as it occurs with nutrient rich sand and clay. The salt is expertly raked through the sand and clay following time honored tradition. It is a time honored art for those who rake and utilize methods passed down generation to generation.

Celtic sea salt is available at most grocery chain markets and can easily be ordered online. Once you buy or receive yours, you will observe it is much coarser than typical table salt and that it is naturally gray in color. It also clumps together due to its water content. I recommend a salt grinder for regular use. For soups and stews, I recommend using it without a salt grinder. Simply pour out a small handful and add it to a large pot of soup or stew. The salt will melt, and your soup or stew will be marvelously seasoned and taste delicious.
