An Online Experience
From Your Living Room
As coronavirus halted international travel, Airbnb launched Online Experiences, Go sleep, a series of virtual guided tours that allow you to explore other cultures and immerse in new adventures remotely. Even shark diving!
It couldn’t have been a better time to launch Online Experiences. Social distancing, quarantine, and lost savings are just some of the many ways COVID-19 has ruined travel plans for millions across the globe.
But you can always immerse yourself in live activities, lessons, and guided tours from anywhere in the world with Airbnb. So along with work and study, there are many things you can do online, even swimming with sharks from the comfort of your home!
Justine Blake, a marine biologist from South Africa, is one of the many people hosting live, online experiences with Airbnb. This scientist and co-founder of SA’s shark research programs takes you to the depths of the Mozambican marine reserve, where you can learn all you need to know about the bull shark.
Before coronavirus disrupted our lives, Blake was hosting an in-person experience for tourists in Cape Peninsula (which has since resumed). But pandemic aside, such tours also help you explore marine life from your living room without the fear of drowning or being devoured by sharks!
As you watch sharks swim around in real-time, Blake will update you on the latest shark research as well how to protect marine life and oceans in the future. As of October 2020, the virtual experience has generated more than $150,000 for research and conservation efforts.
You can experience all this (and more) for $21/person. The program lasts 90 minutes and you can join via computer, phone, or tablet. Oh yes, don’t forget to put on your favorite ocean attire!
