Barbecued Shrimp – What Is It?

Message from Rich – back in 1985, I spent one week in New Orleans. Plan went to dinner one night at

  • Pascal Manale’s. I asked the waiter what the recommended and she said Barbecued Shrimp. What a wonderful dish. I remember it to this day. Make it if you can.

In New Orleans, barbecued shrimp is actually sauteed shrimp cooked using a variety of ingredients. Let’s take a quick look at the recipe, then let’s see where we can find this dish in the United States.

First off, you will need to prepare the following ingredients:

    • 2 lbs. fresh or frozen shrimp
    • 1 teaspoon of Paprika
    • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
    • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
    • 1 teaspoon Sugar
    • 5 tablespoons of butter
    • 3 cloves of garlic
    • 3 Scallions
    • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoons Water

    Instructions for Cooking Shrimp Barbecue

Follow these steps and make your own shrimp barbecue.

    1. Take a large bowl and toss in the paprika, ancho chili powder, ground cumin,
      sugar and salt. Mix.
    2. Add the shrimp unpeeled and mix evenly. Set the bowl aside for now.
    3. Take a 12-inch skillet and set the cooker to medium heat.
    4. Take 5 tablespoons of butter and heat until it is melted.
    5. Cook garlic for one minute on top of the butter. Do not take off heat.
    6. Take your large bowl and pour the contents to the butter and garlic mixture.
    7. Cook and stir shrimps until opaque. It should take about 3-4 minutes.
    8. Drop 2 tsbp. of Worcestershire sauce, squeeze lemon juice and add water.
    9. Keep cooking and stirring for 1-2 minutes.
    10. Garnish sliced scallions. Take off heat and serve.
