The Beach is Wonderful
Pack Your Bag Correctly & Don’t Forget Anything
A day at the beach is relaxing, fun and one of the best ways to soak up the summer sun. It can be rough though if you forget a critical item like sunscreen or a towel. Make a checklist the night before to eliminate last minute running around in the morning to be sure you have everything you need to have an awesome day splashing in the waves.
There is the obvious assortment of towels, blanket, chair, bathing suit, loose clothing (for the ride home), sunscreen and a cooler full of goodies are the basics you should bring. If you want to amp up your game and have a really epic time, try these beach hacks:
- Bring any medications you or your family may need, including an epi-pen if someone has an allergy. Keep them in plastic ziploc bags to kepe the sand out.
- Bring bug spray for those nasty little sand fleas and other unwanted insect biters.
- Attach a cork to your car keys so if they accidentally end up in the water, they will float instead of sinking to the bottom.
- Cupcake liners are a handy little hack for putting on top of your drinks, which helps keep sand and bugs out of your beverages.
- Bringing the kids? Bring an inflatable pool to them to play in, keeping them corralled for some time while they play and build sandcastles.
- Freeze treats like watermelon, grapes, strawberries and bottled water. The heat of the day will melt them into cold, delicious ways to hydrate and get necessary nutrients that you will burn off swimming in the waves.
- Fair skinned? Try bringing a beach umbrella or pop up tent to protect you from the sun when you’ve had enough. Remember that being in the water doesn’t protect you from the suns rays.
- The night before, brew a cup of green tea. Pour it into a small spray bottle and refrigerate it until you head to the beach. If you start to feel sunburned or just hot from the sun, spray some on your face or anywhere on your body for a refreshing mist.
